Powerful

Some people get labelled in their lives with a description that follows them for years: Smart One, Athletic One,Helpful One, Witty One, Rebellious One. Those kinds of labels are always based on an individual's specific personality or behavior, they are not universal to everyone. Following Christ is not like that. The book of Ephesians identifies people with labels that apply to everyone who has begun a relationship with Christ. Christians are called:Powerful One, Loved One, Wise One, Fruitful One, Strong One and many other names. This is a Christ-follower's self-identity, regardless of the label the world hangs on them. One is a week-by-week look at how to claim those labels for yourself and how to live out that description every day.

Wise One

We are in the midst of a series on the book of Ephesians. The idea behind the series is that followers of Christ are labeled. They are called __ One. This week Deborah will consider how wisdom is most often gained - the hard way, through trial and error. Read Ephesians 5:15-21 on YouVersion or on page 816 in the Bibles we provide.

Impressed

Our summer series is, “ The New Old Testament - Famous stories like you’ve never heard them before.” This week we’ll consider the story of Moses and the plagues. What does it take to impress you?

Words With Friends

People can talk a good game, but one thing we can count on is that the words we speak will always betray what is really going on in our hearts. Read today's verses from the book of James 3:1-12 on YouVersion or on page  848 in the Bibles we provide.

Warning: Wealth

When it comes to living out our faith in practical ways, nothing is more practical than what we do with our money--and nothing is more revealing of the true state of our faith. Join us Sunday for some of the most challenging words in the letter of James. Read today's verses from the book of James 5:1-6 on YouVersion or on page 849 in the Bible we provide.

Facing Opposition

Ever noticed how when you are trying your hardest to follow God's will for your life, you always seem to run into opposition? This week we will look at how Nehemiah handled the challenges that tried to interfere with his mission. Read today's verses from Nehemiah 4-6 on YouVersion or on page 333 in the Bibles we provide.

Why Attend Church?

Research shows that less than 20 percent of Americans will be attending church today. Where will you be? Read today's verses on YouVersion or in Acts 2:38-41 in the Bibles we provide.

Why be Baptized

When you come to church, you can always expect to sing some songs and hear a sermon, but every now and then you'll see someone get wet! The practice of baptism is so important to the heart of God that even Jesus took the plunge. Read today's verses from Acts 8:26-39 on YouVersion or on page 764 in the Bibles we provide.

Here Comes the Judge

“Don’t judge me.” How many times a day do you hear or read that somewhere? “Judging” someone has easily become one of the greatest faux pas of our society. And Jesus certainly seems to support this norm in the Sermon on the Mount when he admonishes us with, “Do not judge.” So what’s the alternative? Bland acceptance of everything as “OK?” Join us as we take a look at one of the most transformational pieces of advice Jesus offers for improving your relationship with others. Read today's verses from Matthew 7:1-6 on YouVersion or on page 679 in the Bibles we provide.

Dying to Live

It is the climax of the Old Testament. Everything leads up to this moment, and everyone looks back on it. But before the Israelites will walk free, God commands a life or death act of faith from his people. Read today's verses from Exodus 12:1-42 on page 46 in the Bibles we provide and learn how a lamb and a dinner changed everything for the Israelites... and for you and me.

A Right Perspective of Love

As much as we may love someone, sometimes it is hard to know the most loving way to respond. The apostle Paul has great encouragement on the right way to love. Read today's verses from Philippians 1:9-11 on YouVersion or in the Bibles we provide.
